Dear Clients, Colleagues, and Friends,
There comes a time in one’s career when it is appropriate to change focus and priorities. I want to share a decision with you that I made several years ago and that I have shared with our Board of Directors and staff. I will retire from my position as Chief Executive Officer of Tec Inc. Engineering & Design at the end of this year, December 31, 2023, and begin the next chapter in my professional and personal life.
It has been an honor to serve as President and CEO of Tec Inc. Engineering & Design since its inception in June of 1983. I leave knowing Tec accomplished a great deal over the past 40 years and its future is bright. Tec has remained true to our values, and I am proud of the continuation of these values.
In 2018, we began formulating a succession plan to put the next generation of leaders in place and to facilitate my future retirement. This plan was put into action in January 2020, with my utmost confidence in these professionals and their abilities. My son Adam Kilbourne was voted in as president, Tim Pool as Executive Vice President and Director of Engineering, and Russ Edwards as Vice President and Director of the Columbus office. They are dedicated shareholders committed to maintaining Tec's reputation for excellent service and engineering solutions. The leadership team also includes three key members: Todd Miller and Jon Alexander, who are shareholders, and John Milenius, who serves as the Director of Mechanical Engineering. During this transition and succession period, I am grateful for their efforts and successes at Tec. They along with other long-term, experienced staff remain with the firm and will continue to lead with our values at the forefront of their decisions.
The firm’s strength and position in the region as a top-engineering firm that clients insist upon remains unchanged. Tec is currently in its most successful position ever. With strong leadership and excellent staff, I am comfortable stepping away from daily activities. While I’ll not be involved in daily activities, I will continue as Chairman Emeritus and be available for consultation as well as attendance at annual Board Meetings.
I will continue to uphold Tec’s legacy of community outreach and professional development while promoting opportunities for growth as an industry leader. I have thoroughly enjoyed these past 40 years and have been honored to share my knowledge and experience with our exceptional staff, clients, and friends, I know Tec will continue to experience great success going forward.
